The Beerfest in Klaster Brewery 7/1/2000

Music, fun, games and beer, beer, beer and beer and beer that's Beerfest in Klášter Brewery. Everybody can taste all kind of Klaster's Beer. Everybody can try how fast one can drink a pint or even a quart (or one liter) of beer. The fastest woman managed to drink half a liter of beer in 5.8 seconds. The fastest man drank a double amount, i.e. a whole liter, in 5.1 seconds

The brewery is building a beerhouse in a rock (The Mlada fronta DNES daily, 2/13/1999)

In 1998, the Klaster Brewery in Hradiste nad Jizerou managed to raise its output by thirty-five thousand hectoliters (from 75 to 110). "This year we plan to increase the output further to 140 thousand hectoliters," said Jaroslav Krejca. According to him, the brewery is successful in the market because it makes the traditional Czech beer with a traditional technology.      more...

How do you brew good beer?

They really know how to brew excellent beer in the Klaster brewery. The number of prizes, e.g. for the best beer of the year 1999 and the best brewer of 1999, proves it. The beer production in the Klaster brewery strictly follows the traditional recipes confirmed by time. The beer is made of excellent deep-seated water, of world-renowned barley and Saaz hops, it ferments and matures in the fermenting and storage cellars dug by monks 18m deep into a rock under the Klaster brewery buildings. The optimal temperature in the cellars ensures good clarification and saturation of the beer, which makes the beer matured and tangy in taste, with creamy foam. A great care is taken of the choice of raw materials. The quality of the ecologically clean malt is carefully checked on purchase. They boil down hops from Žatec (Saaz), which has a fine aroma and provides the Klaster beer with its typical smell and flavor, so appreciated by the beer lovers. The Klaster beer will satisfy even the most demanding customers who wish to taste a properly brewed, good traditional Czech beer.

The cave beerhouse.

At the beginning of July 1999, the Pivovar Klaster brewery opened a unique period restaurant in the rocky massif directly under the brewery buildings. The main work was done many centuries ago by monks who dug out huge spaces in the depth of several tens of meters under the brewery. Today, these rooms are used by travel agencies and companies for organizing big events for more than 150 visitors. The visitors can tap the non-pasteurized beer for themselves, piglets are roasted on an open fire and other traditional Czech goodies are available. The cave beerhouse's size, shape and conception make it a unique project in the whole of Central Europe. Why don't you come too?

The Klaster "beertage" or how fast can one drink a beer?

The regular Klaster beer harvest, which takes place every summer in the brewery's courtyard, showed how fast one can drink a pint or even a quart (or one liter) of beer. The fastest woman was Dagmar Erbenova from Kosmonosy who managed to drink half a liter of beer in 5.6 seconds. In the male category, Daniel Spina from Rovensko drank a double amount, i.e. a whole liter, in 4.7 seconds. And what about you? Will you try it too?
